The royal couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton, both 41, graced Fitzalan High School in the heart of the Welsh capital. This visit was a part of their series of royal engagements to commemorate Black History Month, where they had the honor of meeting members of the Windrush Generation.

Kate Middleton paid a sweet tribute to Welsh football legend Gareth Bale in Cardiff today - as she held her hands in a heart-shape, the former winger's favourite celebration

Kate Middleton, in a heartwarming display of cultural appreciation, mirrored the iconic heart-shaped celebration gesture that former Welsh winger Gareth Bale was known for after scoring goals. The moment was a touching tribute to Bale, who hails from Cardiff and is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers to have ever represented Wales. Bale's illustrious career spanned stints with Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid, and he also captained the Welsh national team to an impressive third-place finish in Euro 2016, marking a historic achievement for the country. Gareth Bale announced his retirement from professional football earlier this year, capping off a remarkable journey.

This visit to Cardiff came after the shocking revelation in July, reported exclusively by PEOPLE, that Kyle Richards, the 54-year-old actress renowned for her role in "Halloween Ends," and her husband Mauricio Umansky, the 53-year-old real estate magnate behind "Buying Beverly Hills," had decided to separate after 27 years of marriage. While the couple initially denied rumors of divorce, they candidly acknowledged having faced a challenging year, expressing their sentiments in a joint statement shared on Instagram.

The teaser for the upcoming season also hints at the competitive spirit that often characterizes the relationship between Prince William and Kate Middleton. The royal couple engaged in a spirited game of table tennis during their visit to Cardiff, where they met with members of the Windrush Generation. Clad in a stylish £549 navy pinstripe jacket from Holland Cooper and matching wide-leg navy trousers, Kate Middleton, at 41, teamed up with a young woman at the Grange Pavilion for a thrilling doubles match. Prince William, also finding a dedicated teammate, joined the fray. Their famously competitive nature shone through as they faced off on the table tennis court, bringing smiles to the faces of those present.

The royal couple's visit held special significance as it coincided with the 75th anniversary of the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush in the UK. This historic event marked the beginning of the Windrush Generation's settlement in the United Kingdom. During their visit, Prince William and Kate Middleton interacted warmly with both schoolchildren and elders they met, even sharing heartfelt hugs with some members of the public who had gathered to see them.

As for Kate Middleton's fashion choice, she opted for a sophisticated and tailored look, donning the same outfit she wore to welcome Apple CEO Tim Cook to Windsor Castle just a week prior. Beneath her chic navy pinstripe jacket from Holland Cooper, she wore a white bodysuit, and her brunette locks cascaded in loose curls down her shoulders.

The royal couple's competitive streak isn't a newfound discovery. They recently discussed their penchant for competition on Mike Tindall's podcast, where they humorously likened themselves to Monica from the hit sitcom Friends, a character known for her insatiable desire to excel at everything. Table tennis was a particular point of interest, with the couple acknowledging that their matches could extend for hours, becoming a mental battle of wits.

The visit to Cardiff also witnessed a heartwarming interaction with schoolchildren who had received Windrush-related lessons as part of their curriculum, an initiative aimed at educating pupils about the profound impact of the Windrush Generation on British society.

The Grange Pavilion, located in the Grangetown suburb of Cardiff, played host to this significant engagement. The pavilion, a collaborative project involving Grange Pavilion Project, Grangetown Community Action, Cardiff University, and Cardiff Council, transformed a formerly vacant bowls pavilion into a vibrant community facility. The space now offers a community café, employment opportunities, and training facilities, serving as a vital hub for the Ethnic Minority Youth Forum for Wales, Windrush Cymru Elders, and Black History Cymru 365 for Wales.

The Windrush Cymru Elders, established in 2017 as part of Race Council Cymru, aim to promote understanding of the concerns and needs of ethnic minority elders while celebrating the invaluable contributions of the Windrush Generation and individuals of African descent in Wales. During their visit, Prince William and Kate Middleton had the privilege of hearing firsthand accounts of the experiences of the elders and the profound impact the generation has had in Wales since their arrival 75 years ago.

Their Royal Highnesses also devoted time to engaging with the Ethnic Minority Youth Forum, a youth advisory panel for Race Council Cymru comprising young people aged 11-25. This group aspires to be a catalyst for change, amplifying the voices of young people from minority ethnic backgrounds in Wales.

Additionally, Prince William and Kate Middleton interacted with young people from the Somali community, a significant segment of the Grangetown community. They spent time with members of Wales Somaliland Youth Links and Cardiff Bay Warriors FC, learning about the community projects that have fostered connections, tackled youth unemployment, and promoted friendships between young individuals in Cardiff and Somaliland.

In a recent appearance on the "Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" podcast alongside an animated Kate Middleton and Princess Anne, Prince William discussed the significance of sports for children, especially in terms of learning how to handle both victory and defeat. The couple emphasized the importance of teaching children to lose gracefully and gain valuable life lessons from such experiences. They also touched on the unique personalities and temperaments of their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, all of whom are gradually exploring different sports and activities as they grow.

As the royal couple continues to embark on their series of engagements and interactions, their visit to Cardiff leaves a lasting impression of warmth, inclusivity, and a celebration of diverse cultures and generations. Their commitment to meaningful engagements and the causes they champion remains at the forefront of their royal duties.
