Former West Ham Star Dimitri Payet Accused of Abuse and Coercion by Ex-Lover in Brazil.

Dimitri Payet, the former French international and one-time West Ham United star, is facing a police investigation in Brazil after shocking allegations were made by a former lover. The accusations involve claims of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, as well as coercion and manipulation throughout a tumultuous seven-month affair.

The woman at the center of the claims, Larissa Ferrari, a 28-year-old Brazilian lawyer and mother of two, has filed an official complaint with authorities in Rio de Janeiro. She alleges that Payet forced her to perform degrading sexual acts, pressured her into filming explicit videos, and subjected her to emotional and physical abuse. The claims have prompted Rio de Janeiro police to formally open an investigation into the 38-year-old footballer, who currently plays for Vasco da Gama.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Larissa said, “He’s a sick monster. I was scared for my life, and I’m still scared. I not only want justice but to also help other women who are blindly allowing their partners to abuse them.”

Payet, who is married to Ludivine Payet and has four children with her in France, reportedly began communicating with Larissa in August 2023 using a fake Instagram profile. The pair transitioned to WhatsApp shortly thereafter, where their conversations turned romantic. Despite knowing Payet was married, Larissa agreed to meet him in person, flying over 1,500 miles from her home in Paraná to Rio’s Windsor Hotel, where Payet’s team was staying ahead of a match.

Larissa described their first meeting as “intense” and filled with affection. “He was very sweet and romantic,” she said. “We hugged, kissed, and I felt like he truly cared. I thought he seemed like a lovely man.” The affair quickly deepened, with Larissa and Payet spending days at a time together. She said she confided in him about her recent breakup and her fragile mental state, and that he appeared comforting and supportive.

However, she alleges that by October 2023, the tone of the relationship shifted drastically. Payet reportedly began making disturbing requests, including asking her to dress as a bride for a mock wedding ceremony. “He told me it was the official moment of us becoming a real couple,” Larissa said. “He made me buy a ring to show my loyalty and love. I stopped dating others because I thought we were serious.”

In December, Larissa shared match tickets given to her by Payet with a friend, who posted them on social media. The incident allegedly triggered Payet's fury. “He screamed at me and told me he was the only person I could trust,” Larissa recalled. “He threatened to punish me and said he was returning to France for 30 days. He warned that when he came back, I would be sexually punished.”

When Payet returned to Brazil in January, Larissa visited him, where she claims the abuse escalated. She alleges he physically assaulted her, kicking and hitting her before engaging in violent sex acts. Larissa has provided police with photographs of bruises as evidence of the attack.

“Within seconds of arriving, he told me, ‘Now your punishment starts,’” she said. “He had convinced me that I needed to be punished for us to stay together. I was emotionally vulnerable and believed I deserved it.”

In the days following, Payet reportedly sent a car to escort her to his football match, a gesture she interpreted as a twisted “reward” for complying with his demands.

In a further disturbing incident in January, Larissa received a message from another footballer via Instagram. She told Payet about the contact, insisting it was innocent. Payet allegedly became enraged, accusing her of infidelity and demanding she prove her love.

“He said I had seven days to prove myself,” Larissa said through tears. “I offered to get a tattoo of his name, but he said that wasn’t enough. Because he was in Rio and I was at home, he told me to punish myself since he couldn’t do it.”

Larissa said Payet demanded she send him degrading and humiliating sexual videos, including footage of her with her head in a toilet. Text messages allegedly show Payet asking her to perform “disgusting acts” to prove her devotion.

“He seemed pleased at first when I sent them,” Larissa said. “But then he asked for more. I really loved him, and I just wanted his approval.”

In February, Larissa rented an apartment in Rio to be closer to him. But she says the cycle of abuse continued, with Payet again leaving her bruised and emotionally broken. “He called me a ‘slag’ because I’m Brazilian,” she said. “What scared me most was that I began to believe I deserved it.”

Larissa says none of her friends or family were aware of what she was enduring. After suffering a panic attack, she sought therapy and found the strength to end the relationship in March.

“I was emotionally fragile, and he used that to manipulate me,” she said. “I paid for all the flights and accommodation. Once I even had to take a bus instead of a plane, and he yelled at me for arriving late. When I got off the bus in Rio, I collapsed.”

Photos of her bruises have been submitted to both the police and journalists at The Sun.

As police continue their investigation, Dimitri Payet has yet to make a public comment on the allegations. The case has sparked widespread outrage in Brazil and among football fans globally, prompting conversations about power dynamics in relationships and the responsibility of public figures.

The shocking case is ongoing, and developments are expected as authorities continue to gather evidence and testimonies related to the disturbing claims.
