Dimitri Payet Accused of Abusing Lawyer Mistress in Brazil Amid Shocking Allegations of Physical and Psychological Violence

Dimitri Payet, the married former Premier League star best known for his time at West Ham United and Marseille, is facing disturbing allegations of abuse from a woman claiming to have had a months-long affair with the French footballer. The accusations, currently under investigation by Brazilian authorities, include claims of both physical and psychological violence.

Payet, 38, who currently plays for Vasco da Gama in Rio de Janeiro, allegedly subjected his reported mistress, Brazilian lawyer Larissa Ferrari, 28, to a series of degrading and abusive acts during their seven-month relationship.

According to multiple reports, including statements from Ferrari to Agence France Presse (AFP), Payet is accused of forcing her to drink her own urine, lick the floor, and consume water from a toilet bowl as a form of punishment during the affair, which reportedly began in August 2023. Ferrari claims the abuse escalated after a dispute in December, prompting her to seek legal protection from the police.

“I want justice because he abused my psychological vulnerability to gain sexual advantage,” Ferrari said in her statement to AFP.

Police Confirm Investigation into Abuse Allegations

The police in Rio de Janeiro have confirmed that the case is currently being investigated by a women's protection unit, specializing in cases involving domestic and gender-based violence.

“The investigation is ongoing,” a Rio police spokesperson stated. “The complaint was registered at a police station specializing in assistance to women.”

According to official police documents, Ferrari alleged that she was “assaulted by Dimitri Payet, which left marks on her body,” and that she suffered “physical, moral, psychological, and sexual violence” throughout their relationship.

While Payet has yet to make any public statement regarding the accusations, the seriousness of the claims has shocked both fans and the wider football community, especially considering the midfielder’s previously low-profile personal life.

A Relationship That Turned Dark

Ferrari claims that her involvement with Payet began shortly after she finalized her divorce. She states that the two grew close quickly due to frequent communication and visits, describing the footballer as “very affectionate” in the early days of the affair.

“Our intention initially wasn’t to get so involved, but it just happened,” she said. “We got very close because I had just gone through a divorce, and he often felt lonely.”

Ferrari added that she visited Payet at his home approximately every 12 days, staying for several days at a time.

“With so much closeness, the meetings became more frequent,” she said. “And with so much affection exchanged, it was impossible not to become attached.”

However, things allegedly took a dark turn in December 2023 when, after an argument, Payet reportedly began “punishing” her through humiliating acts. Ferrari says she complied with his demands out of fear and emotional manipulation.

“He demanded proof of love from me, which consisted of humiliation,” she explained. “I recorded videos in which I drank my urine, drank water from the toilet bowl, and licked the floor.”

She emphasized that the relationship was never about financial gain. In her own words, “It was never about money, not before, not now.”

A Career Marred by Scandal

Dimitri Payet is considered one of the most gifted players of his generation. He earned cult hero status at West Ham United during his stint in the Premier League from 2015 to 2017 before making a controversial return to Olympique de Marseille, where he spent over six years.

In 2023, the Frenchman made a surprise move to Brazil, signing with Vasco da Gama in Rio de Janeiro, leaving behind his wife of nearly 20 years, Ludivine, and their four children in France.

Ironically, Payet praised his wife in past interviews for supporting his move abroad.

“She said, ‘Go ahead. Come on, I’ll take care of everything. I’ll look after the children,’” Payet previously said. “If I’m here today, it’s thanks to her. I know she did it out of love.”

This makes the current revelations even more jarring, as they paint a stark contrast between Payet’s public image as a family man and the disturbing allegations brought forth by Ferrari.

Ferrari Steps Away from Public Eye

In her statement to the media, Ferrari, who is also a mother of two, concluded by apologizing to her family and announcing that she would be stepping away from social media to regain her peace of mind.

“There’s not much I can say because there’s no explanation or anything to justify it,” she said. “I will stay away from social media for a while to have some peace.”

Despite the public and media frenzy surrounding the case, Ferrari remains firm in her pursuit of justice, saying her complaints were made with utmost seriousness.

“I’m a lawyer. I would never have made such serious complaints lightly.”

As of now, Payet remains active on the Vasco da Gama roster. The club has yet to issue a public statement regarding the allegations against their player.

Legal experts in Brazil suggest that, depending on the outcome of the investigation, the footballer could face serious criminal charges including assault, coercion, psychological abuse, and sexual misconduct, all of which carry significant penalties under Brazilian law.

If charged and found guilty, the repercussions could extend beyond the courtroom—impacting his football career and his reputation on a global scale.
