Among the standout stars was Scandal actress Kerry Washington, 48, who turned heads in a breathtaking floral gown featuring a bandeau top and a floor-length skirt. The actress, who won Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in The Six Triple Eight, completed her ensemble with black peep-toe heels, styling her raven tresses in soft curls.

Orange Is the New Black’s Laverne Cox, 52, stunned in a bustier-style gown featuring a nude top and black skirt, accessorized with gold jewelry. Tichina Arnold, 55, dazzled in a silver gown with a stylish hood, while Jurnee Smollett, 38, turned heads in a deep burgundy strapless gown paired with matching pointed-toe heels.

Male stars also showcased their impeccable style. John David Washington, son of legendary actor Denzel Washington, looked dapper in a navy suit. Morris Chestnut made a statement in a black jacket with bold gold stripes, and David Banner sported a mustard-colored suit. The awards ceremony was filled with emotional moments, as winners took to the stage to express gratitude. Keke Palmer, 31, emerged victorious in the Entertainer of the Year category, beating out powerhouses like Cynthia Erivo, Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Hart, and Shannon Sharpe. Taking the stage to accept the award from LL Cool J, Keke praised Cynthia Erivo’s performance in Wicked: Part One, calling her “exceptional.”
Kerry Washington was visibly emotional upon winning Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture for The Six Triple Eight, a Netflix film directed by Tyler Perry that tells the story of America’s all-Black, all-female 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion during World War II. She triumphed in a competitive category against Cynthia Erivo (Wicked: Part One), Lupita Nyong'o (A Quiet Place: Day One), Regina King (Shirley), and Lashana Lynch (Bob Marley: One Love).
Other major winners included Martin Lawrence, who secured Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and Denzel Washington, who won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Gladiator II. Ebony Obsidian was honored with Outstanding Supporting Actress for The Six Triple Eight.
Television categories saw Quinta Brunson win Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Abbott Elementary, while Michael Rainey Jr. took home Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for Power Book II: Ghost. Damon Wayans Jr. won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Poppa’s House, and the Wayans family was inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame.

Legendary comedian Dave Chappelle, 51, was honored with the prestigious President’s Award, recognizing his contributions to comedy and culture. Former Vice President Kamala Harris received the Chairman’s Award for her dedication to civil rights and social justice.
